Amanda Jacobsen

Amanda Jacobsen currently serves as the Public Affairs Officer at U.S. Embassy to Ethiopia in Addis Ababa. She joined the Foreign Service in 2006 and has served in Lome, Togo (Consular and Development portfolios), Kathmandu, Nepal (Cultural Affairs Officer, Regional Refugee Coordinator), Gaborone, Botswana (Public Affairs Officer), Special Assistant to former Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and Africa Bureau Spokesperson. Amanda was an international educator in Latin America and worked in non-governmental organization (NGO) Management in Seattle before joining the U.S. Foreign Service.
She received her BA in International Political Economy and Spanish from the University of Puget Sound and her MA in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury. Amanda speaks Spanish, French, and basic Nepali. Her professional passions are refugee affairs and media capacity building. She is an avid hiker, open water swimmer, and violinist.
